A very attractive 1857 flying eagle cent graded MS 64 by NGC. This U.S type coin has been much harder to find in mint state grades than in previous years. We believe this coin to be a struck through Mint Error because it's nearly missing entire letters of 'States Of' on the obverse as shown in the photos provided. It holds great feather detail for the grade and is completely original and attractive. It has been housed in a newer style NGC prong holder.
This Philadelphia Mint coin holds a total mintage of 17,450,000. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 12,000 have survived in all grades. It is one of only 241 graded Mint State 64 by NGC.
