Arlington Hotel Hot Springs Arkansas, Antique Glass Paperweight, circa 1900

Description

Shipped to the highest bidder;  this antique glass paperweight showing the second Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs Arkansas that opened in 1893.  All the carriages, street cars and carts shown in the image are horse drawn--there are no engine driven vehicles.  The original Arlington opened in 1875 but was razed and replaced with this second structure in 1893 to compete with newer hotels that had been built near it(encyclopediaofarkansas.com).  The image used in the weight was made by the Pyro-Photo Co. NY and appears to be a paper lithograph; their mark can be seen in the lower left hand corner of the first 3 photos.  There is a matching mark on the back of the weight, though partially missing, see photo #6.
Condition of the weight is very good, showing light wear of the paper insert on the bottom.  The glass weight itself has no chips, cracks or stains and is particularly clear with almost no scuffs or scratches on the glass surface.  The gray/white scuffed areas shown in the upper corners of the first 2 photos are reflections coming through the glass from the bottom of the weight.
